Touch O’ Honey Cereal
Often I would find myself in the kitchen with a taste for cookies or pancakes but without time to properly prepare my oats by soaking. Or, I did not want soggy oats, but rather dried oats to work with. Or, my kids would want a cereal that was just, well… “plain” – what??? A kid wants something plain? So without further ado, I simply stopped our cereal making AFTER the soaking process but BEFORE the addition of the yummy flavors and dried the prepared oats. This resulted in a cereal, an ingredient item, a product, a starting point for YOUR cereal flavor~ and more ~ that we simply call Touch O’Honey, You’ll get the goodness of coconut oil, the slight sweetness of fresh, local, WI honey and the benefits of proper grain preparation (soaked in an acidic medium) all for your use in whatever moves you to deliciousness. Now, go cook something!
Each of our pre-soaked oatmeal cereals CONTAINS ONLY organic or all-natural locally produced ingredients. Our methods and ingredients (a complete ingredient list can be found here.) adhere to the guidelines established by the Weston A. Price Foundation. Our process of preparing these cereals is considered “Traditional” in that it employs similar methods that were used by our grandparents, and great-grandparents and great-great-grandparents…! By soaking our organic rolled oats in an acidic medium for an extended time the properties in the grain are transformed, making the grains easier on your tummy. Each of our cereals can be eaten right out of the bag, tossed into your yogurt or covered with milk. For even easier digestion, grains should be cooked. These cereals cook up quickly on your stove, covered with a bit of water and simmered until the creaminess is to your liking. Watch out – the aroma can be intoxicating!
